We dived on the Ashley Madison data, aware of the ethical issues of the leak.

Our plan wasn't to uncover individuals (being there means nothing), but to look at patterns. We also wanted to play with a big dataset (35M of rows).

We uncovered thousands of fake profiles created by the company. In another article we did a reverse IP lookup to find how Spanish public employees registered there with government email addresses.

Tools: MySQL, OpenRefine, RIPE Database.

With Antonio Delgado and Nicolas Pérez.
